Turkey’s yachting industry is one of the most prolific and dynamic in the world. Currently, it’s in a powerful growth phase, with established shipyards joined by ambitious new builders looking to make their mark on the shipbuilding scene. One of the latest entrants is Orion Yachts, the superyacht branch of Trabzon Shipyard, which has announced that it completed its very first project.
Fittingly christened Orion One, the new build is a 43.8-meter (143.7-foot) yacht that is set to make its public debut at the 2026 Cannes Yachting Festival, which starts tomorrow.
Built at Orion Yachts’ facility in Altinova, Yalova, Orion One was initially introduced in concept form in 2022, and it first hit the water in May this year. It’s built with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, and it’s the result of a collaboration between Red Yacht Design, which handled both the exterior and interior, and Alfa Marine Design, which was responsible for the naval architecture.
“Creating the first yacht of a new shipyard comes with a different kind of responsibility,” confessed Fatih Sürekli, managing director and co-founder of Red Yacht Design. “Together with Orion Yachts and the entire project team, we wanted to create something with a strong identity that could become the beginning of a much bigger story.”
Aimed at modern seafarers looking for a watercraft that combines comfort with efficiency and flexibility, the new yacht’s design harmoniously blends timeless elegance with modern aesthetics. Its exterior showcases an elegant, contemporary profile with clean horizontal lines, a flared bow, and cascading aft decks. Extensive glazing wraps around all decks, creating a strong connection between the interior and the surrounding seascape.
Generous outdoor living areas allow guests to experience life at sea at its finest. One of the highlights in this regard is the expansive flybridge with a hot tub, an alfresco dining area, and a generous lounge designed as a social gathering space. For guests seeking a quiet spot for sunbathing, the foredeck lounge is the perfect choice, while the upper aft deck provides another outdoor space for enjoying meals and entertaining. Other noteworthy features include a bridge deck cinema and an outdoor gym.
With a beam of 8.1 meters (26.5 feet), the vessel offers an interior volume of about 480 GT. The interior layout is optimized for easy circulation and onboard flow, as well as a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor areas. In terms of overnight accommodation, Orion One can sleep as many as 12 guests across five cabins.
The owner’s suite is a private haven located forward on the main deck and includes a fantastic fold-down balcony that offers 180-degree water views. The guest staterooms – two doubles and two twins with Pullman berths – are situated on the lower deck. It’s a rather flexible arrangement that makes the yacht suitable for both family cruising and charter use.
Inside, Red Yacht Design has created a warm, calming atmosphere thanks to the use of light woods, natural materials, and neutral tones. Light blue, aquamarine and emerald accents add subtle color, while floor-to-ceiling windows flood the main saloon with natural light.
In terms of performance, the Orion One is powered by twin Caterpillar engines that give it a cruising speed of 12 knots and a top speed of 15 knots.
At the Cannes Yachting Festival, the Orion One superyacht will be on display with Fraser, asking €22,000,000 (about $25,550,000). Following its debut at the prestigious event, the vessel will head into the Mediterranean for its first cruising season.
